Interesting notes:

29 Mar 2016: White whisps in the water column may be sulfur bacteria

30 Nov 2015: DO at depth (more than 4m) is only 3.86 mg/L, and salinity increased at depth very slightly. Ammonium concentrations were intermediate.

9 Oct 2013: Difficulty stabilising the meter as visible stormwater mixing was occurring

14 Dec 2012 and 16 Jan 2013: Ammonium concentrations were intermediate.

5 July 2012: Ammonium levels elevated. EPA general guidance suggests concentrations less than 0.05mg/L reflect good water quality, while concentrations exceeding 0.5mg/L reflect poor water quality. Concentrationsw between these thresholds are intermediate. The concentration at low tide on July greatly exceeded the threshold for poor water quality.

2 Mar 2011: As the Horba U-10 water tester was lowered through the water column, the salinity increased slightly with depth, and the dissolved oxygen dropped from 6.31 mg/L to 2.5 mg/L by about 5m depth. The turbidity stayed low, suggesting that the occasional underlying dinoflagellate bloom that sometimes occurs in the Port waterways was not present at this time.
